Steak & Onions // 1920s

Sometimes you can't beat a good, hearty steak for dinner. This simple 1920s steak and onions recipe will sort you out.
Original Recipe: 'Steak & Onions' (Book 4, 1928)
Speed: 15 mins. | Serves: 2

INGREDIENTS

  • 2x rump steaks

  • 25g butter

  • Sliced white onions

  • Worcester Sauce

METHOD


1. Brush the steaks with butter on each side.


2. In a large pan, fry the onions in half of the butter for 3 minutes until browned, and then push to the sides of the pan to make room in the hottest part for the steak.


3. Fry the steaks for around 4 minutes on each side.


4. Plate up and splash steak with a few drops of Worcester Sauce.
