You can do so much with a good custard recipe. Here's one from the 1940s! The pic above shows us pouring it into a delicious trifle. Yum.
Original Recipe: 'Custard Sauce (Plain)' (Book 6, 1943)
Speed: 10 minutes | Serves: 4-6 servings
14g custard powder
Flavouring (such as vanilla essence / bean paste)
½ pint of milk
1. Place custard powder into a saucepan set over a low heat, add in the milk, and stir slowly for about 5 minutes until boiling.
2. Add in the sugar and flavouring, and continue to mix as the custard boils for 1-2 more minutes before using.
